Army Ranks
An army is a country's armed force that fights on the land. Its most senior rank is usually General, as you see here. (There is in fact a rank more senior than General; this is Field Marshal [British Army] or General of the Army [US Army]. It is seldom awarded and is not shown in this table.) The most junior rank is usually Private.
