Why is a 2021 Climate Change Conference Called COP26?

Actually, it should have been held in 2020 but was postponed due to covid.
But what does “COP” even mean?
COP stands for Conference of the Parties.
COP26 is the 26th Conference of the Parties (COP) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). This annual meeting brings together the 197 members of the convention to take co-ordinated action on climate change. In 2021 it is hosted by the United Kingdom.
My old Aston Martin, which I’ve had for 51 years, runs on, can you believe this, surplus English white wine and whey from the cheese process.

I think that at least those countries made some promises to change for good, it’s not easy to do it and accomplished but it’s a beggining and example for younger generations and new politicians.

COP-26 is a useless meeting of private jets and escorts that will change nothing. Massive tourism, constant frenetic consumption, overpopulation are responsible of our problems and nobody wants to change anything. Don’t worry, if we don’t do the job, the planet will solve the problem by itself : we are not essential on its surface.

I echo Laura. Not just totally unnecessary private jets, but even more unnecessary jet escorts? Give me a break! With “leaders” like this running the world, the feelings of cautious optimism that I try to nourish once again revert to hopelessness.

I thought with technology you can send ,via the internet, PowerPoint slides…two very expensive, fuel consuming planes!!! And 400 private jets, really. Have they not heard of commercial flights or # jet sharing # . Kind of defeats the object of COP 26. Pathetic.
