Hey Dhara,

As some have already said, there is a lot of opportunity to work abroad for English teachers. I don't know what the situation is like in the UK, but I've heard it can be rough for teachers to get a job right away. I have a friend who had to do a year placement before the school actually hired him. But the opportunities abroad are numerous.

I'm from the US and I went to Taiwan to teach. It was a way to expand my teaching skills, work on my Chinese, and travel and I loved it. I worked for a private school that did after school classes for school kids but I also got to do some nursery teaching, too which was fun. I had friends that worked at the American and British schools in Taipei and they absolutely loved that.

If you are willing to go abroad there is a lot out there. You can do a few years here and there and see what works for you and what countries you really love. But if you want to stay in the UK, it's not impossible, but try to get placements and network as much as you can before you graduate. It might help you loads afterward.

Best of luck with your degree.

When you finish your study abroad program and return home, you will return with a new perspective on culture, language skills, a great education, and a willingness to learn. Needless to say, all of these are very attractive to future employers.
Many students find that they love their host country so much that they decide to seek work there. If you can relate, you will find that a local education will be very valuable when searching for a potential job in that country.

Actually a demand for ESL teachers is huge in countries like China or S Korea, and if you earned your degree in a country like US or UK, you wouldn't have a problem getting a job. Just check offers at websites like eslteachersboard.com or goabroad.com. Good luck

Well, if you are considering teaching abroad, I highly recommend you to consider teaching English in China.

The booming economy of China provides a variety of positions and the demand for competent English teachers will continue to grow steadily in the following decades. If you are a native speaker of English and can teach the subject well, you will be demand for your entire life.

China might be a good choice for you if you want to teach abroad, because the education market in China is expanding rapidly and by 2023, China's education market size is estimated to be about $600 billion (an 11.3% annual growth rate), and there is a large demand for foreign teachers. For the salary level, in tier-1 cities (Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Beijing) is approximately $2,760-$4,024.

It is perfectly fine for you to apply for a teaching job in China

There are three ways to help your search for a teaching job in China:
1. Through Online Job Postings and Recruiters
There are several options when searching for teaching positions online. For example, you can check out teaching-focused websites directly like TopTutorJob.com/jobs.
2. Contact Schools Directly
If you do not trust job agencies, the best way to find a job for you is to directly contact the school. However, this process takes more effort and patience on your part.
3. Through a Friend Who Lives in China

Hi, Dhara! I think teaching in China would be a good choice for you. Holding a bachelor's degree is one of the basic requirements if you intend to teach in China, therefore, if you obtain a master's degree, you will be probably preferred by recruiters. Apart from the requirements for the degree, there are other requirements you need to meet if you want to teach English in China.
1. Younger than 60 years old
3. At least two-year experience in teaching
4. No criminal record
5. Having passed the necessary medical check
6. All the application materials should be approved by your local P.R.C. embassy.
7. If applying for language teaching positions, the candidates should come from native-speaking countries.
Hope my answer helps!

Due to the impact of the epidemic and immigration policy, China is now in short supply of foreign teachers. And now the epidemic situation in China is very stable, it is also a good choice to come to China to find some jobs.

Study the country before entering. For example, the job market in Hong Kong right now is tough.

However China has a high demand.
