THEN

Post by Lewoz »

Hello,
I am having trouble to use THEN in the following paragraph:
"The Two recruiters look at the candidate's resumé, and get confirmation that he is French.
Then they decide to dismiss his application."
I would like to use THEN as a synonym for SO (consequence), but in my paragraph it just sounds as if it emphasized 2 successive actions. (first/then)
Should I place it differently in the sentence, so that it expresses consequence?
Thanks for helping.

'Then' is a time adverbial, and so cannot normally be used in place of 'so' or other reason adverbials.
