Expressing CONSEQUENCE with THUS and CONSEQUENTLY

Post by Lewoz »

Hello,
I would like to know if THUS and CONSEQUENTLY are properly used in the following sentences.
They believe that his French is poor; thus, he is certainly not their favorite candidate.
They believe his French is poor; consequently, he is certainly not their preferred candidate.
If so, are there any other options regarding the use of punctuation with those connectors?
Thanks a lot for helping.
