I have been TEFL'ing for a bit more than 5 years in Colombia, teaching adult business people in private lessons. But now I am starting to work for a primary school. The job they want me to do is simple - get the children talking in English. The other teachers can handle the reading/writing/grammar side of English just fine.
My problem is with the children in the first/second/third grades - they are completely undisciplined and out of control. And of course they are not interested in actually speaking English. They do fine with reading/writing/grammar.
Anyone here have any experience you can share with me in how to get these children to start talking in English?
Thanks,
Chip
