Hi,

I have some issues with these sentences. Is it possible to use all the suggestions? If not, which ones are the best?

1. Before she could say anything, Jeff leaves/left/let Jamie alone with the ghost.

2. In the end, as she is waiting for Stan, Jamie is grinning/grins from ear to ear.

leaves: possible in very informal setting (eg telling joke - but why isn't it "Before she can say anything..."?)

left: ok

let: grammatically ok, but potential difference in meaning

is grinning: ok

grins: grammatically ok but is the meaning as intended?
