Which are correct:

1) They were more children than grown-ups.
2) They were more children than us.

3) They were too much children to understand the situation.

4) He was more a child than an adult.
5) He was more a child than me.

6) He was too much a child to understand the situation.


'Child' and 'children; are used here as adjectives. They basically mean 'childlike'.

Acceptable as written: 1 & 4


2) They were more children than us.
-->They were more childlike/childish than us/we were.

3) They were too much children to understand the situation.
-->They were too childlike/childish to understand the situation.

5) He was more a child than me.
--> He was more of a child than me/I was.

6) He was too much a child to understand the situation.
-->He was too childlike/childish to understand the situation.
