Has anyone had any experience with copyediting as a side business? I've heard it's possible to make some extra money this way?

Yes, there is demand for proofreading, editing, paraphrasing, etc. that you can tap into by networking online with translation companies, via craigslist and with colleagues if you work at a university that requires lecturers to conduct research and publish. Anyway, that's where the bulk of my work comes from.
