themselves or herself (reflexive pronouns)

Post by rovsenm »

I was taking a test online and there was a question about reflexive pronouns.

'They are going to receive the medals from the Queen _____.'

The correct answer is herself. I understand that the reflexive pronoun here is used to emphasize the Queen.
But is it correct to use themselves instead of herself?

Grammatically possible (but obviously with a quite different meaning).
