United Kingdom Gets New Prime Minister
Comprehension Questions
- Who is the new prime minister of the United Kingdom?
- When did Theresa May resign?
- What does Boris Johnson plan to accomplish?
Discussion Question
Theresa May resigned with the Conservative Party still in power. This meant that only Conservative Party members got to vote for the next prime minister. Boris Johnson is not required to hold a general election until the end of the Conservative term (May 2022). Do you think this is fair? Why or why not?

English Club Indonesia says:
The new Prime Minister of the UK is Boris Johnson. Theresa May resigned on Wednesday afternoon. Boris Johnson’s goal is to complete Brexit immediately. There is no foul play when the PM comes from the Conservative Party again, as they are still in power, and the former PM quit by resigning, not by the end of the term. Till then, when the next election comes, we are going to see the next party in power with their PM too.

Hi Tara,
I don’t know why, but I was so interested to hear the voice of this lesson and finally you helped me so much for resolving the trouble.
We have an Iranian proverb that says:
The human is interested to what he/she is forbidden to it.It means that if someone tells me that I am not allowed to go to Canada, I become so interested for going to Canada.
Thus, because of the trouble, I guessed, maybe, someone doesn’t want me to hear the voice of the lesson and I was interested to find the answer of this question, why?
Thank you so much, Teacher Tara.
The lesson is so easy for me and could fill in the blanks all words.Best wishes and have a nice weekend,

Hi Tara and also English Club,
It’s the first time after nearly two years and six months that the audio news report didn’t work at all for me and could not hear any voice. I downloaded it, but it doesn’t have any voice.
I went to other lessons and saw they work in the best way.
I’m so sad because I cannot listen to the lesson my dear Teacher Tara.
I hope dear Mr.Josef and English Club to resolve my problem soon and inform to me too.
I will come here tomorrow and test again.
Thanks in advance and best wishes,
