Everything that looks good may have an ugly story behind it. I am from Indonesia. We were colonized by the Dutch for 350 years. In that era, the Dutch might have been reaching their golden age, but that prosperity was gained by exploiting weaker countries like us.

Hi Tara,
Wonderful!
First, it’s so wonderful to present Comprehension Questions in each audio news week. In my opinion, maybe, it’s better to have it with each lesson.
Second, I could understand the subject without seeing the text and could also fill in the blanks all words except the word “erase”.
In addition, I answered all of Comprehension Questions correctly before seeing the text.Third, I’m surprised why have the Amsterdam Museum banned the use of the term “Dutch Golden Age” in reference to the 17th century?
Because, every country has some events (good or bad) in its history, so we cannot ignore the history.
Thus, I agree with another well-known museum that the negative aspects of the 17th century shouldn’t affect on this era.
Teacher Tara,
Thanks for this lesson and also the nice change that you have made for creating Comprehension Questions.Best wishes,
