  Great discussion point! As an educator it’s important we show hypocrisy whenever it manifests. We vote for these people. They are our representatives not masters. Students can still think for themselves. Probably they will, at some future election.

  Education needs to be as nonpartisan as possible and nonjudgmental.

  Educators need to teach vocabulary and thinking skills so our students can think for themselves to reach their informed conclusions.

  Disappointed when I read this today. I have used this site for years teaching English Language Learners and low level literacy students.

  I can see the President of the country I live with sadness. Here, in Brazil, he is totally against the using of masks. And we see that his mask falls all the time when he says he didn’t get the vaccine and appears without wearing a mask with a large ammount of people, walking around him without masks,too.

  Shocking, I am irritated how the profesional liers has surrounded us. And also while they were discussing the climate change and fosil fuels in Rome. Bidden had a tour of Rome and Vatikan with convoy of 85 heavy fossil fuel vehicles. The leaders must show acction before they ask us to act!

  Bill – In British English ‘people’ is the accepted plural of person, while ‘persons’ is reserved as a formal version used, predominantly, in legal terms – such as ‘the police are searching for a person, or persons, unknown’

  My use of ‘more correcter’ was clearly a deliberate error, as a counterpoint, too subtle for you!

  Seamus – I believe that in British English at least using “persons” in a context like this carries a subtle meaning which I needn’t bore the unenlightened with. Also in British English, we say “more correct” rather than “more correcter”.

  Politicians are well known for their hypocrisy but, in this case, they were asked by members of the press to remove the masks so that they could be understood in a noisy room.

  @roberto I think the point escapes you. It’s not whether masks are good or bad. It’s that politicians only put them on for the cameras. They tell us to do one thing and then they themselves do another. The question is about politicians and hypocrisy, not masks.
