Some one asked “has been deported” is not grammerly clear.
It’s passive sentence so has/have + been + p.p is the form of using in this tense and as the man was deported is passive one we must use this form as present perfect in the passive form. Iman -

Hi Tara,
First, thank you for this week’s audio news report.
Second, I could understand the news without seeing the text and could also fill in the blanks all the words except the word authorities.
Third, your speaking’s speed is like the last week and then is normal and guess the learners on intermediate level can understand you easily.
Fourth, it’s terrible that the 95-year-old had worked at a Nazi concentration camp where 6,000 Jews were shot dead on November 3, 1943, but I agree with German authorities who say Palij was placed in a retirement home and will likely not be tried for any crimes because I believe he has been punished by his conscience during these long years.
Teacher Tara,
Thanks to you and Teacher Josef who’s the founder of the website and both of you spend your times for the learners free of charge.
Best wishes and have a great week in nice Canada,

In my humble opinion, some crimes (like murders) should not expire so this person should be tried.
I totally agree with bassam: this kind of exercises helps learners a lot.
