Duchess Kate gave birth to a baby boy at St. Mary’s Hospital in London on Monday, July 22nd. According to reports from the palace, the 8lb 6oz baby and his mother are both doing well. The first child of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge is currently third in line for the throne. The baby’s grandfather Prince Charles is first in line of succession, and his father Prince William is second. It could take up to ten days for the first name of the heir to be announced. The British royal family usually chooses traditional names, such as George or Victoria. In the past few weeks, millions of people have placed bets on the royal baby’s gender and due date.
