Wrong Woman Declared Winner at Miss Universe Pageant
Miss Colombia was wrongly declared Miss Universe at the 2015 pageant in Las Vegas this December. She wore the crown for a few moments, before the host, Steve Harvey realized his mistake. Miss Colombia was actually the runner-up, and Miss Philippines was the winner. In one of the most awkward moments in pageant history, the crown was removed from Miss Colombia’s head and placed on the head of Miss Philippines. Steve Harvey apologized to the audience and the contestants and took responsibility for the mistake. In his apology tweet, Steve Harvey misspelled Colombia and Philippines. His tweet was removed and reposted with the correct spelling.
Miss Philippines won the 2015 Miss Universe pageant.
Miss Colombia was incorrectly crowned Miss Universe, though she was really the runner-up. She had the crown removed from her head a few moments after the announcement.
Steve Harvey tweeted an apology to the two contestants, but misspelled the names of both of their countries.
