Hi, this is an interesting idea to learn English. I have experienced this situation and most of the time I learnt through using my favorites. I watched many TV series , movies and still I’m doing it. When I found something new in vocabulary, I search its’ meaning and I add them to my vocabulary book to by-heart. Then I use those words as much as possible in my usage to practice it. I keep and maintain a small vocabulary book since my childhood. I believe that it’s a nice attempt to learn more too.

It was a very nice video, because we can show our students that learning English isn’t a Green Mounster, atending classes and practicing what has been taught with the tools presented in the video makes the learning much esier. And for sure it was a way to show people that Brazil is a wonderful country and is getting better each other day.

Brazil, the continent’s emerging power, is a country that has accelerated incredibly their level of development due to the demands of globalization, has transformed its culture to that today is a country known worldwide.
From the hand of global capitalist model for society demands come as the management of a second language, particularly English, which not only Brazilians, if not all people from anywhere in the world should learning, and this video shows methodologies language learning and shows how easily put into practice the knowledge acquired through interacting social networking, listening to music, watching movies, and so make a constant feedback.
I think that in Colombia the educational system particularly at the school, have the wrong approach on how to teach English to children, starting as grammatical structures completely skipping the speaking and listening practice, should be implemented such methods at an early age.

I think that this video is very interesting because he suggests some methods for learning and teaching a second language, English. So this is a good material for teachers because it would be good teachers in schools do different activities such as video, tell stories, play games, try to talk, watch movies, listen to music, and using media (facebook, twitter, orkut, my space ..) visit countries that have the native English for to practice English
Also, this video recognize the importance of English in the actually, not only in Brazil in all over the world, so you need to find strategies for teaching and learning of this. The most important thing for learning English is that this is part of life; therefore it must be used in daily routines

THIS VIDEO IS VERY INTERESTING, A LOT LIKE ME, BECAUSE I CAN KNOW THE METHODS THAT HAVE OTHER COUNTRIES LIKE BRAZIL FOR TEACHING AND LEARNING ENGLISH.
I CAN KNOW THE METHODOLOGY OF INSTITUTES JUAN URIBE, AND STRATEGIES USED BY TEACHERS TO TEACH ENGLISH.
SOME OF THE METHODS USED BY THE TEACHERS ARE MAKING GAMES, STORY TELLING, LABEL PLACES AND OBJECTS OF EVERYDAY USE OF CHILDREN….GREAT IMPORTANCE IS GIVEN TO COMMUNICATION, (SPEAKING), THE TEACHER CONSIDER THAT THE STUDENTS CAN LEARN A SECOND LANGUAGE THE SAME WAY THAT THEY LEARNED FIRST LANGUAGE
TEACHERS AND STUDENTS RECOGNIZE THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS LANGUAGE LEARNING FOR DAILY ACTIVITIES OF A CITY AS BIG AS SAO PAULO

Maria Fernanda says:
the video is very interesting, I think it shows true things. the people featured in the video have learned English by the method that they most like, through music, games, and technology.
some people are trying to learn to communicate in English, we have many mistakes such as when we speak in English but in Spanish, which is why we get confused and send wrong message.
another mistake we make in particular students is to practice only in classes outside of them do not.I think everyone should learn how to find one you like, that would be an effective and practical. otherwise it is very important that we instill the English from an early age as a second language were born we have to learn how we do it with Spanish.
as showed in the video. a useful way to learn is to use everyday things so that we learn in this case the technology such as facebook, tiwter. etc.
In conclusion the only way to learn is with practice and with a useful and enjoyable for the learner -
LUISA G says:
The best way to learn another language in any case it is the first that this language is to your total satisfaction and that the mere fact of wanting to learn and have a great forward in his favor. One of the advantages that this video shows is that the children were shown this as a simple language through games, recreational activities which stimulate learning with pleasure, reading stories, talking about body parts, wondering about the different situations presented to them as examples in classes which have a dynamic approach. Since the class is more conversational than theoretical and it is the best way for a person to learn, it’s like in my case one is learning Spanish, as a child, teach us first to speak, then we know how to write, and then perfected. Hence the problem that in most cases do not learn, because they always begin with what should be the last, when they should begin by the cruelty to talk.
In the video suggest that one can speak that language with people who are in other countries, thanks to the advanced technology we have today, however, you should be aware that we must be careful whom you speak and that speaking, the paper is good to do that through facebook, twitter, myspace and others, because when you talk to these people through these means, it’s easier, make mistakes and correct them to us and tell us about how to read and not read at home.
I think that since there is interest on the part of the person, she finds all the elements needed to learn and invent other for easy and fast. -
DIVA says:
THIS VIDEO IS ON THE IMPORTANCE OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE AS ELEMENTAL AND FUNDAMENTAL TO BE ABLE TO COMMUNICATE WITH OTHER PEOPLE ESPECIALLY, PEOPLE FROM OTHER CITIES AND OTHER COUNTRIES. IN THE VIDEO SHOWN TO BRAZIL AS A COUNTRY IN WHICH THE PEOPLE BOTH ADULTS, TEENS AND KIDS WANT TO LEARN TO COMMUNICATE MORE EASILY WITH PEOPLE PRAY THAT IN MY OPINION I THINK THAT IS THE BIGGEST ISSUE OF ALL, BECAUSE WE KNOW HOW TO WRITE AND HOW READ BUT DO NOT KNOW HOW TO TALK.
AS A METHOD OF LEARNING TO BE SHOWN IN BRAZIL AGREE THAT USE WITH METHODS AND NOT ONLY IS BASED ON THE TYPICAL COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY CLASS BUT THAT IS SOMETHING MORE PRACTICAL AND FUN TO LEARN, USE GAME, SOME PEOPLE LEARN MORE WATCHING TV, VIDEOS, MOVIES, LISTEN TO SONGS IN ENGLISH, PLAYING VIDEO GAMES TO CHAT FOR THE MOST POPULAR MEDIA AND CURRENTLY USED BY THE YOUTH AS THE FACEBOOK, THE TIWTER, MY SPACE AND OTHERS.
I THINK IT IS PRACTICAL, AND VERY HELPFUL ORIGINAL SLOWLY LEARNING THIS LANGUAGE AS NECESSARY TO COMMUNICATE WITH OTHER PEOPLE AND I THINK THAT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA THAT COULD TAKE ALL SUCH PRACTICES AS AN EXAMPLE TO BE MORE FLEXIBLE SO WHEN USING SINGLE THE ENGLISH AS A MEANS OF COMMUNICATION AND COULD HAVE MORE CONTACT WITH OUTSIDERS TO WORK, PERSONALITY.

Deysi Contreras says:
The video provides strategies for English language learning in Brazil, in schools and learn quite a lot of grammar vocavulario but as even a need for greater communication connection with this language.
teachers in schools in Brazil use different methodologies for children and youth learn English, it is easier with stories of superheroes, with the vocabulary of body parts, adjectives, and others.
the teacher uses communication as an essential basis for learning, but sometimes combine it with the Portuguese from various games, first tell the whole phrase in Portuguese and in English.
another strategy for learning especially in younger children is to place the name elements of schools such as chair, table, board and others and thus make language learning as part of their daily life easier on the student.
in terms of other teenagers use different strategies for learning English and the use of video games, and especially the language used to talk online with friends around the world, social networking sites like facebook, twitter , my space, youtube to listen to your favorite music, or movies, and thus recognize different cultures. the relations established by the network helps them to proficiency -
Alejandra Bohorquez says:
Today more than ever it is essential to learn English.
First, because English is the tool that allows communication with people from other countries in the globalized world in which we live. It is indisputable: English has become the global language of communication excellence.
On the other hand, for some people speak English is essential when traveling, whether for tourism or business. In these cases, it is necessary to speak English to shop, learn English in order to catch a train without getting lost or to ask for the bill in a restaurant where they speak only English.
It is important to analyze this new way of learning English they have in Brazil, there is seen as through play with children being taught. If you ask any child in kindergarten what she likes, it’s probably not hesitate in answering “play.” Indeed, any activity involving game is welcomed. The game keeps the interest of the class.
Often the games are used in English classes, they increase the motivation to learn the language, as children, even the less skilled, they feel a real sense of accomplishment when they can participate. Many games provide a considerable practice in certain aspects of language, with the advantage of avoiding boredom.
The creation of dialogues in groups, and the subsequent dramatization of the same, is an activity that should be used in class frequently. The dialogue created is thus a possibility of use in a new situation. It is important to stress that language is not only articulate speech and the importance of oral expression.

LIZETH CARREÑO says:
Sao Paulo is a very beautiful city where most activity of Brazil is concentrated. For people in Brazil is important to learn to speak, write, and listen to English language they think this is used at work, school in all parts of the world. They consider that it is easy to learn to write or listen in English but is difficult to speak. Brazilians used a special teaching method based on the experiences of subjects. Why children equal to Brazilian language English language teach them, in that place young students are the protagonists of his stories, talk about topics that they like as heroes, most movies or themselves. For young people depends on the responsibility for them, interviews youth speak of their experiences with the language and as it is possible to speak in English of an easy way for them, used pages of the internet as facebook, msn, among others to communicate with other people around the world. Brazil youth is not good to talk to people in the country if the interest is learning the language English. They use English for study, work and to leave the country and learn about other cultures. They say it’s fun to practice English with video games, and the computer. Young people say they have problems is difficult to talk in real time. Music is another element to learn English young people listen to favorite bands they sing in English.

Sergio says:
Well, I think that english is very important in every aspects of life, including when you are playing online with other people even when you are telling jokes that needs english, if you don’t know the meaning you probably won’t understand the joke, so you can improve your english in different ways, like the guy who listen music and search the lyrics, I think that this is the most useful way, becuase I learned english that way, but also on the internet you can learn so much, visiting webs in english, talking with other people and they can help you to improve.
In a formal way the english is very important too, It becomes one of the most spoken languages, and that means that in the future the knowledge of this so important for your career and succes for your life, you will have better opportunities to get a job, because maybe the company will have partners in another countries so they can trust on you to give them a good service, that you can understand everything they need and they want too.
Here in Colombia the learning of english is very basic at school so when you get in the university if you don’t have a good level and even if you don’t like english, this language will be a torture, here too we find a lot of institutes to learn english but they are very expensive and many times they aren’t good enough for the price that people pays. -

Lots of thanks to the directors and I will appreciate it if they can continue making more such kind of films. In these films I realize that fluent English is worked out by practicing and persistence.
By the way,I just can see six films on the website and where is the seventh one?
I’m looking for more!

As always…VERY ENLIGHTNING! It’s very interesting to find out that the independent learner, the one that is willing to take risks, to take responsability of their own learning process are the ones that make the biggest progress. So I think we, as teachers, have to provide our students with as many opportunities as possible to practice the language in the English classroom. We also have to invite them to try out new ways to approach the language they are interested in learning. CONGRATULATIONS and keep up the good work!!!

I agree with Gemmie. I love the whole series, but I think I like this one best. Perhaps it’s because I’ve seen first hand how quickly English learners are improving via social media networks (such as Facebook and MyEC). The students all seem so happy and excited about English in this film! They don’t look bored at all. I hope to visit Brazil one day. Great film Daniel and Joel!

I want to say is I’m not doing RPG game or any other games in Internet, but I try to do all the circumstances in English environment, try every version of software to install in English language even if I don’t know what the program is for exactly. It helps me many way and I want to install my PC with English version’s OS(operation system) but I can’t afford it very now, but I still hope many of program have the English version when it release to public or to international usage.

Dear Daniel, thanks a lot for this video. I’m an English teacher in Ukraine and I envy these teens for having found such deep motivation for learning English. My students play different games, they surf in the Internet, but 2 lessons a week are not enough for strongly motivated teens. It’s a pity, but most of them begin to realize the importance of knowing English only in senior forms or university.Another problem in my country is that very often there are 15-25 students at the lesson and it’s difficult to teach them all.
Thanks a lot once more.
Yours,

Thanks for sending me this video. I think I like this one the best. I say that because it contains many facts about teaching and learning English as a second language. Both teachers of ELD/ESL and learners of English can learn from this video that learning a second language/English should be incidental not by rote learning (memorizing grammar rules and vocabulary words).
The mother in the video was right on when she said that her child learned better through playing. Learners should be put to learn second language in the environment and with the topics that they are interested in, such as the scene of the teacher with the three boys talking about animals and the zoo. She and other people in the video also admit that they learned English the traditional way and still can’t speak in English with confidence.
A lot of people learn English for many reasons, but the best reason of all is to open up their world through communicating in English by meeting and learning from others via internet.
Great job with the content of this video!

This is a very interesting video for me. Brazilians also have communication problems in English. I didn’t know that their English education focuses on vocabulary and grammar in school. I thought that English education just in South Korea or Japan focused on vocabulary and grammar.
